I rarely use the 7 pin connector on my bumper, but almost every weekend I use the connector in the body of a 10,000 pound gooseneck truck. This device offers backup alarms, which is really good (I would have preferred longer beeps at a slower pace, but hey, it does what it does). and cords from the trailer may cause this unit to sag or dangle from the socket in the back of my truck. Once upon arrival I was told my light was not on but as soon as I pushed the plug harder they worked again. On another occasion, shortly after my trip, the trailer brakes stopped working. Stopping and plugging back in, we were ready to go. I really can't think of a design solution for this product that doesn't cause this problem. Just be careful and cautious. I'm tempted to plug my trailer right back in and plug this signaling device into the socket on my bumper, but a) it causes trouble connecting/disconnecting the trailer and b) the security "door" is likely blocking the sound.
