Review on Trizact Hookit Foam 30806 Grade by Wesley Holmes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ideal for use prior to final buffing, but don't expect it to remove scratches heavier than 3000

quality product although expensive. I picked this up in hopes of reducing my grinding and compounding time. I'm a hobbyist painting in my garage so color grading is almost a must. A little orange peel might be acceptable for a factory look, but I like smooth glass. You'll need to block the trim with thick paper to even it out. The idea is that this paper improves the scratch enough to reduce or eliminate compounding. It is possible, but desirable that the scratch is not worse than 3000, but better than 5000. This is too fine a grit to effectively prepare the surface for a 3000 grit scratch. Using this 8000 with the appropriate 3M polish and pad to avoid compounding and machine glazing didn't save me any time. That was because I had to work so long to get the sand off the scratch. 8000 is not required, and neither is 5000 in most cases when mixed with 3M's 3-Step Perfect-it System. This Trizakt 8000 is a high-quality, ultra-fine product that can be polished easily and quickly. Just note that you'll spend more time getting it down to a reasonable level to actually use 8000 once you've done a lot of paint fixes.

Pros
  • LONG TERM ABRASIVE: As the abrasive wears away, new cutting mineral is exposed resulting in long life and an even finish
Cons
  • Large and bulky
