What do you expect from a $39 bike rack? There are times when cheapness works, but I don't like it. I personally wouldn't trust this device to keep my bike safe on any road. I tried using straps for extra stability which helped but it made the whole on and off process more time consuming. The support arms on this stand didn't seem strong enough; Some of these may be a fault with my roof rails, but these are Subaru factory rails and I'm sure they're average strength in the industry, so the width of the base of this rack could be the problem. Although the wing nuts are fairly easy to install, it would be impractical to remove them frequently. So plan on leaving that trunk on most of the time. If you're new to roof racks, I wouldn't recommend them for vehicles larger than a car. I'm perfectly able to get my bike on the roof but holding it upright with one hand at the base was difficult so imagine that after a long ride. This part is not the fault of the rack, just an indication as this manufacturer offers other rack styles. I actually have a Swagman hitch that I have used for many years and find it very valuable.
