To be honest, I don't like working on stairs. I wish I had gotten something like this a few years ago. They are well made with good engineering and design, quality product and sturdy. The metal they are made of is thicker and stronger than most aluminum extension ladders I have seen and used. The kit includes a drilling template and very good instructions for mounting on the stairs. Also included are gaskets for some stair models, I didn't need them. Installation took about 15 minutes including removing the old legs from the stairs. stay straight if you want them to be vertical) once you position them correctly they will sit snugly in the ground. I didn't use my feet on the ground, I used the points on the ends of my feet to dig in instead of sliding. A little tape kept the legs upright while I moved the ladder and the ends went into the ground and they didn't allow the ladder to move in any direction like it was supposed to. The legs also have holes on either end for driving in stakes to keep the ladder in place if you choose to walk this route. Well thought through. The retractable legs take a little getting used to adjusting and resetting, especially backing up, but they're not that difficult to master. They are tight and very secure. You add a lot of weight to the bottom of the ladder, which in itself is good, but you won't lift the ladder off-center if you carry it horizontally. It's really not a problem and it could be better since you're closer to the end to install it. Used them for two days after arriving and the stairs were rock hard on uneven ground which was very welcome to me. I still don't like working on stairs but at least it's a lot safer now and that helped a little. And in case you are wondering, the price is reasonable for the quality of the product.
