Installation and configuration was easy. I added extra storage and loaded it up with a big, slow 8TB HDD and a couple of fast 1TB SSDs. Even after putting quite a bit of TB on it, I still exhaust the network before exhausting the HD speeds. I only use a few computers most of the time, but I get a steady 100-120 MB/s with no slowdowns on large transfers, which is nice. Sometimes while watching a movie I hear a strange moaning sound. I finally found out that it wasn't a zombie stuck in my chimney, it was either one of the drives I have or the fan on this machine. It's very quiet most of the time and even when I moaned, it took me days to figure out what it was doing because it wasn't loud enough to hear where it was coming from. It's still quieter than my gaming graphics card. I used to have a Synology, but it was 10 years old when I finally replaced it, so it's a night and day difference, although I'll attribute that to 10 years of technological advancement. more than any real difference between companies.
