Buy with caution: caused bowel obstruction

My cat LOVED this toy. His favorite thing to chew on. He would hug it and chew it and his eyes would roll back because he was so happy. He pulled a couple of the legs off and began chewing pieces off, so I bought a new one and threw away the old one. When the new one arrived, he immediately bit into the tail and off came the corner. I couldn't find the piece and was worried that he'd swallowed it. I looked at the reviews to see if anyone had had a bad outcome with the toy but I didn't see anything except a caution to only let the pet spend a few minutes at a time with it. I started doing that--just five minutes at a time. But I couldn't stop thinking about that little piece. Three weeks went by. No problem. Then he started vomiting and refusing food. Stopped grooming, started hiding. I thought he had a tummy bug at first but thank God we took him to the vet. He had a bowel obstruction that would have killed him in another day or two. The obstruction was the tiny green piece of rubber. I hate to write a review like this because he loved this toy so much, but I had to share this because the cost could be so very high. The search for a toy he will love just as much but will be safer has begun.

Pros
  • Prevents bad breath
Cons
  • The toy may not be suitable for senior cats with limited mobility
