I decided to try this small painting easel after my double knee prosthesis because I thought I wouldn't be able to stand for long during the 4-6 month healing period. I've found myself using it before and after surgeries - both standing and sitting! This was a surprise as I thought it would be too low for me when standing. However, I like having 2-4 or more images at a time (in one medium at a time!) so I used it almost all the time because I only have 2 standing easels! Great without knowing how much space would be available for an easel. I used both the standing and desk easels in the corner and was so glad I brought both! I could switch between the paintings and adjust them throughout the day. I've also taken it on vacation - the little box held my tubes of paint, tray and brushes and didn't take up much space let alone weight. I paint with acrylic paints and watercolors in different sizes. So I added a thin piece of foam core to the easel flap, leaving about a 1/4 inch spacer between the backing to accommodate the foam core with attached toilet paper to work in that environment. Otherwise the thin base slides forward too often and becomes unstable. This works well and is no different than drawing on a canvas. I've added an image to explain - hope it helps others.
