great value for money! Last year (2010) I bought these Celestron binoculars for $118 through Revain.com. I have used them throughout the cruise season and am very satisfied. My expectations of inexpensive binoculars are definitely exceeded. I also have on board an old pair of West Marine binoculars (which have been used at sea for many years (10 at least) and have not always been in the best condition and are now showing their age). West Marine binoculars cost about $150 more. The Oceana binoculars are certainly comparable (even slightly better in some aspects). Optics and ergonomics are good, lined case is included, illuminated compass with red light (battery included), workmanship seems comparable to somewhat more expensive binoculars. Although the optics hardly come close to Steiner quality, they are quite sufficient for typical boat use (low-light performance is comparable to binoculars that cost a few hundred euros more).
