Marginally clunky binoculars with poor features/usability.

The front optics are flexible, making it difficult to keep both eyes sharp when you hold the binoculars close to your eyes. The rubber caps on the eye rings don't fold, so you'll have to slap them against your eyes to see. The compass ring is not visible unless you point the binoculars up and prevent you from taking the compass reading on anything. All in all, not a very good pair of binoculars. They're also huge and heavy given some features that feel like overkill. I wouldn't buy them again.

Cheap and Good Best in Binoculars

It's cheap and good. It also comes with a soft case. I really can't complain. Yes, to read the compass I have to tilt my head a bit and lower my eyes to see the compass. I don't mind. I really need to do some mental math to use the range finder. But it's easy enough. To be honest I have never tried high end binoculars. So I can't compare this one with these high end products. All I can say is that it fits my budget and I expect it to work well next spring when the weather is nice and I can…

Extremely bad customer service.

After I received the binoculars from Amazon, I took them out of the box to test them. They looked great so I hung them in my closet. A few months later I got them out of the closet and discovered that the compass had a bubble in the levitation fluid that was preventing the compass from working. I need to perform warranty service but cannot contact the service department. to receive an RMA. I bought a Celestron telescope many years ago and am planning to upgrade my telescope in the future, but…

Great value for money best binoculars

great value for money! Last year (2010) I bought these Celestron binoculars for $118 through Revain.com. I have used them throughout the cruise season and am very satisfied. My expectations of inexpensive binoculars are definitely exceeded. I also have on board an old pair of West Marine binoculars (which have been used at sea for many years (10 at least) and have not always been in the best condition and are now showing their age). West Marine binoculars cost about $150 more. The Oceana…

Good entry level marine/navigation/ranging binoculars.

I was initially skeptical about all the features offered at the price point compared to similar offerings costing many times more. I have read all the Revain reviews and checked the Celestron website to ensure I have a good understanding of reticle and compass binoculars. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. Advantages: 1) Clean bright optics with no aberrations. 2) Durable yet light in hand. 3) Possibility of central focusing. especially nice if you want to share without…

Excellent navigational tool

The close crossing with an approaching ship on the exit side of the shipping lanes (and a mile wrong way at that) reminded me that knowing where you are is not enough. there are, and it is assumed, that ships will stay on their designated routes. Not only do you need to see them clearly from a distance, you also need an accurate bearing to determine the course of a potential collision. It was this incident that led to my decision to purchase this protective gear immediately. When I took these…

Great versatile binoculars!

I was very interested in that because I like bird watching and often go hiking with the boy scouts. These are solid, solid binoculars. They are comfortable to the touch, have a good weight and quality finish, fit and finish. A very nice carry bag with Velcro is included. Inside there is a pocket for two batteries and a cleaning cloth. .The case has a shoulder strap and a strap for binoculars. The lens caps are built right into the device and can be removed by pulling the cap handles over the…

Celestron Oceana 7x50

Received it yesterday as I only had a small opportunity to test it I can only give a first impression The optical quality is very very good, not perfect but very good, for the most part for the price . (5 stars out of 5 at this price) The build quality is fantastic, they feel very solid, are covered in rubber armor and are totally waterproof. (5 stars out of 5) Comfortable, pretty good, a bit stiff but I expect them to loosen up over time. (4 stars out of 5) The instruction manual for these…
