So far, so good! - my new rating

The monitor arrived today. I just set it up and put it on the stream. So far I haven't found any dead pixels. There can be no question of a real marginal bleeding. According to reviews, the color balance looks good. I love that it comes factory calibrated and comes with a factory printout. I haven't seen a need to tweak anything yet, making setup pretty easy. It comes with all the necessary cables. The included DP 1.4 cable is rated for 8k, so you don't need to upgrade it. It also comes with an HDMI cable and a hefty bracket for other uses. Good size screen. I like a little more height compared to my 3440x1440. It's not much, but noticeable. I'm using the ROG Swift 34. While there's not a huge difference in pixel density, a slightly larger screen size is a good thing. The curve is indistinguishable at normal distance/viewing angle. You must enable a higher refresh rate in your monitor settings to get up to 175 fps. Also, don't forget to check Windows when switching to the native resolution. Windows also has an HDR setting you can turn on, which seems to make things brighter without reducing contrast etc. This is my first HDR monitor so I'm still evaluating how it looks when gaming. I can already see a drastic difference in this monitor from the GSync card to my old ROG Swift34. Be it GSync Ultimate or just recent improvements, I can say that the Predator 38S runs much smoother in games. I haven't tested it in many games yet, but I'm happy with how things are in the few games I've tried. I would say the negative is the price. I've been watching the non-S version of this monitor for over a year and it hasn't budged from $1,600 at all. While $2,000 is a snag for this monitor, I doubt the average price will change much in the future. . Of course I will kick myself if that happens.

Pros
  • ‎X25
Cons
  • Screen burn-in: This occurs when a static image is displayed on the monitor for too long and continually burns into the screen.
