Great for knitters, be careful when crocheting

Caron Simply Soft (CSS) in the Pistschio colourway - a lovely light green with a warmer undertone than the light sage colourway. It's not as bright as it looks in the photo. I combine it with Dark Sage and Bone or Off White as a quilt as the white looks too light and the black doesn't quite match the green tones. If you want to do a 4 color mix with purple I recommend Purple, Lavender Blue, Dark Sage and Pistachio. This color does not work well with Light Sage or Sage as it makes it too yellowish. CSS is thinner than worsted yarn but thicker than sports yarn. It's great for knitting, but it takes some skill to crochet. Yarn has no elasticity at all, so I've found that depending on the stitch I'm making, I need to use multiple hook sizes - sometimes two hooks in the same stitch - to keep the tension constant and avoid big holes at the top of the stitches . The direction of the twist is perfect for knitting, so often 4 strands unwind when crocheting and I have to be careful not to break them or accidentally get them on the hook with just one strand. It can get tangled but is easy to unravel. because it has a very "slippery" texture; a quality that requires each stitch to be worked through at least two loops to avoid creating large holes and tight knots at the top of your stitches. So I've adjusted my procedure when a pattern requires a FLO or BLO. Your finished fabric will almost always feel comfortable no matter what you do with it, but you'll need to adjust your hook size if you're making very different sized stitches, as you can't adjust enough by holding the yarn tighter (trust me that) . save your hands the pain.) Overall, I still really like CSS and don't have any of those issues when knitting with it, but I just don't recommend it for beginner knitters. It can definitely be problematic to work with if you're not willing to face the challenges it poses. However, the quality of the drape is 10/10 for this material. Mimics silk yarn which I have used quite well.
