We had a modem for 6 months after the cable type told us we needed THIS particular model. (We bought our own modem to avoid additional monthly fees from the cable company.) Our internet service became very unstable after this installation. We went days without internet despite the 'wifi' light insisting we had it. We've called our cable company multiple times over the last few months and went through the 'troubleshooting process' with no significant improvement. We also called technicians to the house, but without success. Finally yesterday the THIRD type of cable came out and tried again to factory reset the modem and fixed the problem. This tech admitted it must be a faulty modem and as soon as he plugged in a new modem our internet was stable again. Problems caused by a defective device?
