Review on ☕ Delonghi EC860: Stylish Stainless Steel Espresso Maker for the Perfect Brew by Aaron Clayton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Really great taste

I have had many espresso machines since 1987 when I first went to Italy. Saeco Incanto and Breville Bambino Plus were the last two. My Breville died so I decided to try this midpoint machine. I got it yesterday, watched some videos and read the instruction manual. It is supposed to prepare a first cappuccino, something like a dressing. So I made 5 and threw them away. I played around with the little black "fresh milk vs. foam" stripe on the top of the milk container and ended up liking the center setting best. Maximum foam is just big bubbles. Maximum frothed milk is like pouring hot milk. The middle is pretty nice little foam. The foam is nothing compared to Breville Bambino Plus foam. But I've had enough. You can also froth milk manually. I guess I don't care to that extent and I hate cleaning steam pipes. I'd say it's 75% in the vapor/foam department. I ground 13 ounces (I have a grinder) of beans - not espresso, locally delicious coffee beans - and placed them in a large portafilter. I really rammed it. Then I hit the button for the double latte. First, frothed milk is poured into the cup. Then comes the espresso. After removing the cup, I put an empty cup in its place and pressed the cleaning button on the milk container. This flushes the milk tap. All of the above points are pluses. I really love this car. Many also complain that there is no washing machine and instead only watery used espresso if you remove the portafilter for cleaning. I have found that this is not true at all. Maybe people aren't putting in enough espresso, or they're not squeezing enough, or both. I do not know. The only negative you will keep reading is how limited the cup size is. I need to completely take out the small silver trivet platform and put the ONLY glass/mug in my house that will fit. Its height is 4 inches. And I have to flip it. Good. I can live with that with no issues, but I understand that the spot where the bottom of the jar is is also a bit tight. I added a photo. I made 3 large lattes. Bye. (I use Krug-filtered water with a hardness of 0 and do not use a DeLonghi filter.) Absolutely delicious. As well as my wonderful local cafe Cuties which has gone out of business due to the pandemic. They weighed the site and the shooting. This was serious business.
