Review on πŸ”§ 8 PCS Universal Poppet Valve Set for Homebrewing: Keg Poppet Valve, Ball Lock & Pin Lock Poppets by Becky Chopra

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent replacement

The biggest problem with ball lock kegs is that they leak. and probably the most common point of failure is the disk. I've tried changing the o-rings on the cymbals but it never seems to work. Most of my kegs use Firestone plate cymbals and these "universal" plates are a great replacement or a fraction of the cost of a new Firestone. If you use common barrels, you should have an emergency. a supply of cymbals on hand and they work well. Changing the platter is an easy 5 minute project. There are many videos. Depressurize the keg, take a 7/8 spanner, loosen the pin, carefully remove the pin so as not to lose the current cymbal, check the o-ring / replace if necessary, put a new one Basin in, replace the pin, tighten the pin to 5-10 pounds of pressure (should be tight but don't try too hard so there aren't any leaks), spray on some Stellar San to make sure there are no leaks.
