For long grain rice, this little rice washer is amazing! The holes are high enough to allow the rice to soak and/or swish in the water before straining, and then the strainer can simply be tilted to allow running water to wash over the rice and strain without losing the rice grains. This rice washing and sieving machine is suitable for washing two to three cups of rice. Also, this rice washer/colander fits in other mixing bowls etc. in the cupboard without taking up too much space. I have green and I love using it and I'm glad I have the best rice. Incidentally, rice is delicious and lighter in flavor after being stripped of excess starch and the occasional tiny discolored husk. Delicious! . A NOTICE. I use long grain rice and it doesn't get stuck in the holes. Perhaps the rice variety is important in terms of sieve holes and rice that will or will not stick.
