Review on 7212 Drawer Slide Kit by Prime Line by Andy Edwards

Fragile thin metal, too few screws and no countersunk

In general, they can be used with finesse, proper support and own supply of additional screws. The metal is thin, so the guides are weak. No problem for the rail that attaches to the drawer, but the rail that attaches to the cabinet needs extra support. There are two ways to attach the rails to the cabinet: 1) frame mounting directly to the side panels and 2) front mounting with rear drawer slots (Prime-Line R 7227). I don't see how they can be used with a rear drawer socket. I used the frame mounting method so I can add extra support if needed. I don't see how they can be used for bezel mounting given their fragility. The screw holes on the drawer and cabinet rails are not countersunk to allow concealed fastening of countersunk screws. This causes the roller to either bind or turn the head of the screw every time the drawer is opened/closed. I could use the countersink to repair/prep all of the cabinet rails, but I didn't have a countersink small enough in diameter to fit the drawer rails, so I couldn't get the screws along the outside edge of the drawer, only along the Bottom. Only 12 screws are included in the kit while the instructions say 4 screws per rail (4 rails x 4 screws = 16 screws). Overall, low cost means brittle metal, extra labor, and extra support.
