Better than Pet Smart Door

I have a unique opportunity to compare/review two brands of large dog doors. I recently installed 2 dog doors, one was this brand, BarksBar, the other was Pet Smart. Competitive price. Installing BarksBar was much easier. After installation, both doors worked perfectly. I prefer BarksBar for three reasons. 1. The BarksBar cutting template was made of thick plastic so it was easy to trace. Pet Smart you had to cut out the paper template and then try to trace the flimsy paper. 2. The "tunnel" between the inner and outer shell of the Pet Smart looked like Mickey Mouse and was difficult to cut and install. The "Tunnel" consisted of 4 pieces of hard plastic that had to be cut to the desired width. It's best to bring metal scissors for this job, hard plastic will handle most scissors. Once the 4 pieces are cut you should glue them to one side of the door and try to align them with the other 1/2 skin (blind fit) while you assemble the 2 sides into the door. Better get help to work both sides of the door. The BarksBar had a telescopic design that was easy to set up. 3. The Pet Smart's cover plate simply snapped into place and was difficult to remove. The BarksBar plugin was more durable and easier to remove. One more note. The Pet Smart Panel can be installed on the very thin panels of your door, but you still need to cut out the hard plastic tunnel pieces. The BarksBar requires a minimum of 1.25 inches for the telescopic bar. So if you need to install a thin panel, use the Pet Smart.
