Review on πŸš€ AEM 21-485P Polished Cold Air Intake System: Boost Your Vehicle's Performance by Darrell Bridges

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great quality but beware of chips and suction screens.

You won't notice a performance increase from a base mod for RX-8. However, the sound is quite nice and deep, and I like the rumble that comes slowly down the road. The quality is frankly amazing but don't expect anything other than a very easy install from this kit. AEM is a solid brand, but no real mod will get you real performance unless you use a port/turbo/supercharger like Pettit or Greddy. Be careful not to hit anything on the intake pipes or the paint may peel off. All instructions are included, as are stickers for regulatory nonsense. All instructions are in black and white, which leaves a lot to be desired. However, the installation gives you enough time to interact with the car, which is always a plus. No crazy tools required. Remember that mesh screens should be CAREFULLY installed because if you don't apply them with enough force, your machine can suck them in at an awkward angle, making your idle extremely rough. In this case, firmly and gently squeeze the hoses, and then tighten the clamps. The kit contains all the hardware including a small cap that closes the VFAD. If you don't know what it is I would advise researching the issue before purchasing an air intake for this machine. Overall, the AEM pickup is much better than the factory Mazda pickup. Other good air intakes are the Racing Beat with Revi and Injen ducts. Never buy a short air intake for an RX-8. PS Follow me on Instagram @thinkbelieve
