First of all, this device works great and does its job perfectly. However, my situation did not call for such a sophisticated device. I have a large format printer with a USB port and got tired of plugging it into my PC to print and decided to use one of the Cat 6 cables I had in my walls to connect it. After securing everything properly, I plugged it into the transmit/receive boxes and power cord, it turned on and worked beautifully. I've used all types of USB connections and got a working signal with no issues or lag. But for my connection to a single printer it was a bit overkill, in fact I was able to achieve the same thing with a single USB to Category 5 connector, which is much more convenient to fit behind my computer in a cable bundle and doesn't need extra ones Power cable needs to be stowed in my network wall. The overall linear length of my line set is about 30 feet, so I'm sure this unit would be a lot longer if it were stand alone.
