I recently moved into an old and not well maintained apartment building. When I turned on the AC there was a really bad smell coming out of the vents - the original air ducts and vents are still there. It would be great to get them cleaned but I don't think my landlord will be doing that anytime soon. Basement smells, musty smells, just awful smells. I was looking for filters for my ventilation and intakes and found this wonderful carbon fabric. What's particularly great is that it's thin and flexible, more like a fabric. And since all air vents in my house are different, I was able to cut and adapt them to each one. One air vent had the screws that attached it to the wall chipped and painted over so I couldn't get it in, so I carefully glued it on top. It looks really good in any air vent. And best of all - they really are words. The disgusting cellar smells etc. have almost completely disappeared. I have a very sensitive nose which is part of the problem and this has really helped a lot. This can be a temporary fix, but it can also be permanent.
