Review on POWERTEC 70005 Filter Collectors 3 Micron by Mark Holloway

Supplied in a box with fabric pouch, wall mount with screws and clip. I have a newly built 12' x 16' shop. With this vacuum cleaner I will collect the connecting pipe. In the world of pipes, plumbing and dust extraction generally don't go well together. I'll be keeping track of the progress I'm making here, what's working and what's not. Benefits1. Seems well built and good paintwork.2. Suction seems to be sufficient before assembling my vacuum installation.3. The collection bag is thick and has a viewing window to check the fill level. There is a drawstring around the neck to hold the bag while you attach the clip. The bag has a zipper at the bottom to remove sawdust. I like the switch even though mine is plugged into an outlet. Loud but expected.2. The detachable wall mount doesn't seem to be compatible with the pocket and clip which are difficult to connect/remove. The bag clip is of very poor quality and difficult to connect, but after first attaching the aluminum molds to the mouth of the outlet, it fits better, but still not suitable for frequent bag removal. Had to use a drop of wd40 to allow the clip to slide underneath without bending.4. I thought the packing box could have had better padding inside the box than the styrofoam padding it had. There was insufficient styrofoam padding (less than 1/2 inch) on the input side. The missing inlet diameters online at Amazon and on the manufacturer's website are a big shortcoming for me. If you hooked this up to a vacuum system you wouldn't think the input and output ID and OD sizes would be useful. 3 stars because of the packaging. I'll come back to the review after I've completed my store vacuum system and verified how well it works. ------ Updated 10/06/18. at the junction of each leg. The Powertec 70149 rubber band connects perfectly to the 4" vacuum inlet. It also fits perfectly onto the 4" OD of a standard 3" ABS elbow pipe. 70149 pairs well with the slightly smaller SawStop CNS-DCP Contractor Sawdust Collection Panel 4 ″. They were all clamped with 4" Big Horn 11741PK clamps. The next steps are to purchase more ABS tubing and flexible hoses. I will supplement it with a finished vacuum system. ------ Update 10/23/18 Upgrade to 4 stars. Not 5 because I think the shipping packaging is inadequate. The system is about 50% complete. Using 3" ABS pipe and pipe fittings for the system. The 4" POWERTEC 70111 hose and the 2 1/2" Ultra-Flex hose perfectly match the POWERTEC 70190 Y-Adaptor. The Y-Adaptor comes with my bottom Suction port and connected to the saw table guard. The main pipe needs 3" couplings to connect the 4" Taytools Blast Gates and Powertec 70149 rubber couplings. The noise will be greatly reduced when connecting part of the piping system. Next update will be final parts and a clear score with and without the tube attached.The finished system will have a copper wire to ground the tubes when complete.Search YouTube for a great guide on vacuum tube grounding.
