These are very nice hammers but they don't work at all. It tears open the outer shell a bit, but then instead of ground pepper you're left with either very fine dust or paper flakes. The ability to adjust is a joke as it's all about how close you want each piece of rough plastic to be together. It's impossible to get even a peppercorn in between. I shouldn't have gone the cheap route for this product, but I've learned my lesson. If you are just looking for a decorative piece for your kitchen and have no intention of using it, this is great. If you need functionality, look elsewhere.
