Review on Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice Arctic 195/60 R15 88T winter by Stanisaw Frank ᠌

A normal product, however, does not fully match the description.

I bought it on the advice of sellers (trust sellers, but always check reviews !) for a Toyota Camry v40 2.4l engine, automatic transmission. Before that, there was a Hakka Velcro RSi. The first sensations - until the rubber rolled on (it's somewhere around 3k-4k km) discomfort from the noise - despite the fact that the Camry is noisy - the sensations appear already at 70 km per hour, as if helicopter blades are attached to the roof, it lays ears. Most of the noise went away gradually to 3-4 thousand km. I drove into the snowdrifts and got out of them safely, climbed the icy hills just as safely (I only polished it with Velcro and stood still) (near houses, in our yards in the outback they don’t clean much, because ice under snow is a common thing). Noise could be put up with, but there is one insidious feature in these tires. If on the Hakka RSi Velcro on snow-covered roads the car, if it didn’t go like on rails, then went into the predicted skid, then in this case, the speed of 30 or 40 km per hour when turning is slightly higher, the car does not obey, it goes straight, like on a sleigh , but does not want to turn in ANY way, no matter how the steering wheel turns. Only when I slow down, or slow down to 25-30 km, then the rubber sharply (not gradually) clings to the road, and the car abruptly pulls out of a skid (not a pleasant feeling - after the Hakka RSi Velcro, this behavior is wild). NO predicted skid at speeds above 30 km/h. Total: wear-resistant rubber, good grip on asphalt, snow, ice, porridge, but what a horror it is noisy in the first thousand km and "treacherous" in corners. I will take these rubber properties into account when choosing the next set, they will definitely not take Grip Ice Arctic.

Pros
  • Fairly durable rubber. Coupling properties are good both on a snowy road and on an icy one. Rubber remains soft even after three years.
Cons
  • noisy. At certain speeds in corners, the rubber can not cope.
