Review on Park Tool DAG 2 2 Derailleur Alignment by Bishnu Bush

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The most needed and least known tool

If you have a bike with a derailleur, you need it. One of the most common types of bike damage is a derailleur bracket that was bent or simply misaligned when the bike was new. There are probably more bikes with improperly adjusted suspension than bikes with the wrong wheels. No lies. These hangers are designed to flex to prevent damage to the frame or derailleur - they are soft because they are sacrificial parts. They can be replaced, but nine times out of ten they can be safely reinstated. Whether it's because the suspension was bent, or because the frame on a particular bike has fallen out a bit, or the derailleur itself has pushed out a little and the tolerances of both elements add up, even a brand new bike needs regular touch ups. Adjustment is required, just as regular wheel alignment is required on a car on a regular basis. I have 5 derailleur bikes. I have a tool specifically for one, but EVERY BIKE I OWN HAS NOT BEEN ADJUSTED, including one that has literally 100 miles on it and is absolutely and utterly flawless. indistinguishable from new. In fact, this was one of the most misaligned in the group, which includes my regular road bike, which I ride 80-100 miles a week and have put on about 5,000 miles total. The bike needs to be aligned or not. The tool is great for reviewing and adjusting usage steps.
