Review on Helping Hand 156283 Precision Screwdriver by Bill Lacy

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Look elsewhere for finer tips

These screwdrivers appear to be clones of my favorite Kobalt precision screwdriver and that's exactly what I wanted (Kobalt have discontinued cartridges with caps that hold bits in place). They would be fine, but it looks like the dies are quite worn and casting debris is visible on every part of the drivers except perhaps the polished shaft. Of the two I bought, one had a large piece of aluminum under the rubber grip. However, all this is easily fixed with a file and a knife. What's not easy to fix is the sloppy casting of the Phillips tips. There is almost no size difference between P00 and P000, and the 4 blades of the tip are not identical, so don't rely on P000. I think I might end up replacing the cartridge on these drivers with a Kobalt or swapping out the bits with the Husky driver (which I feel is too clunky).

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • I don't remember
