This filter works great. I started smelling ice cream and after installing this filter the smell was completely gone. Pros: Works great. The water is ultra clear, clean and no longer smells of ice. A quick-release fastener with PVC hose facilitates replacement if necessary. Cons: I'm handy, so I was able to install it after a trip or two to the hardware store. I could see it's hard to install if you're not handy. Read everything carefully first. The guide for the filter requires you to go through the installation process first, and then the last step is to flush the filter for ten minutes. This should be the first step in this process. Rinse the filter as the water will become cloudy. This is my second (lasted about a year before I had to replace it). I would have liked better instructions for this. I had to adapt the 1/4" line to my copper line to fit this filter. Again, if you're good at it you'll be fine. If not, you can talk to someone who understands.
