I thought about the purchase for a week and finally decided. All I can say is that it has been on a boat with a MinKota RipTide 55 trolling motor for almost two years and I have experienced adverse weather and sea conditions on it. It's still solid rock. I remove the engine for long trips and in the winter when I park my boat and it takes about 30 seconds. A small update after two years of running the boat. I still love it and would buy another one but I will probably never need one for this boat again. It's just as strong as the day I installed it. I have used the Min Kota ST55 in all types of water from calm to three foot swells. The bracket has never loosened or deformed.
