They are better than wood spacers
Update 08/13/18 these things border on crap. The only thing they "might" be useful for is attaching - with just one piece - an outdoor grill or planter. the same money and think of a better solution, solid but not thought through. They have a smooth side and a knurled side that doesn't do anything as it won't cut into wood or bond when multiple pads are stacked - pads don't bond together and require glue to hold them together for a long time which is better than Wooden spacers. but seriously marginal given their blocking potential - try to find a better product
