Great if you don't want your water to taste like poop!

You have read all the reviews and are about to buy these filters. Consider a few other camping tips. At most campsites, the groundwater is disgusting. You're probably smart and don't drink tap water anyway (buy a $4 bottle of water at Sams or Costco and know you're not drinking parasites). BUT, if you want to cook or do what I do and accidentally drink water in the shower or while brushing your teeth, safety reason alone is enough to buy them. A few helpful tips: - I always place them directly on the faucet at the campsite and then attach my hose which is attached to the trailer. I have seen others attach the hose, walk to the trailer and then hang the filter on the back of the trailer. Either way works. Purchase a Camco 90 degree elbow to attach the hose to your RV. It costs about $4 and will keep your hose from kinking due to gravity pulling on the hose when screwed in perpendicular to the trailer. The elbow exits the water inlet and then rotates 90 degrees allowing the hose to be connected to the trailer without straining the hose. This extends the life of your hose. I also use these Camco elbows on my home washing machine to reduce stress on those hoses. Buy a 30-50 psi regulator for your hose. Damn, buy two. Attach this to either the pendant or the pivot (either way). When I left a campground a few years ago I had to learn the hard way but the water pressure was too high for my RV and the water pipe broke off and splashed all over the RV. After you're done hiking, rinse off the dirt on your regulator. I kept noticing the dirt on the pressure regulator grid. It's easy to rinse off right after camping instead of trying to wash off the dirt when it's dry. When leaving the camper for a day trip etc. always turn off the water tap. You don't want what happened to me (above) to happen to you (you should turn off the water in the washing machine while you're gone). Or call me a freak and ignore it. These filters cost around $15-20 at any store. Buy them at Revain for a lot less. Use one throughout the season. Store the caps during use so you can close the filter when not in use (to keep bugs out etc.). I drain the filter then shake it and then leave it upright so the water drains out after each use.
