Review on LIFTMASTER 144C56 Chain Cable Idler Pulley for Garage Door Openers - Black by Dan Buycks

3. Pulley, I found my installation was wrong.

I have two garage doors and they both use the same openers. One opener still runs on the original plastic roller, the other has just had a third roller installed. I found out that the pulley failure was my fault. When I installed the openers I had to add an extra kit to use on 10ft doors instead of the standard 8ft door. When I inserted the 2 foot rail extension, I couldn't flex the physical stop on one block, but I did flex it on the other block. beats in winter, the trolley bus tears my pulleys. If your rack's pin is not bent by 12:00 (the pin is about 4 inches from the pulley at the top of the rack), you can pry it out with a flathead screwdriver. If you find your dolly bottoming out against the surface of the track, this could be the reason your pulley is broken. Another change I made was increasing the angle of the lever that connects the carriage to the door. When the garage door was in the closed position, the angle of the link arm was straight up and down, allowing the carriage to move too close to the pulley. I removed the two screws holding the two halves of the link arm together, lengthened the link arm about 4 inches, screwed it back together, and reprogrammed the up and down stops on the power supply. Now everything works very well. , and the trolley no longer even approaches the roller.
