First, the underwear set will SIT. BIG TIME! But the fabric will stretch and become very SOFT after washing and drying. My husband usually wears a large size 5ft. 8 inches. I bought the XL and they fit him perfectly after washing and drying (without clothes). I also bought GREEN Camo Long underwear - also 100% COTTON. So SOFT and snuggly. But order 2 sizes up due to shrinkage Goals when buying mostly cotton items is my rule of thumb. So if your husband usually wear LARGE, I suggest buying 2X. It may be long after 2 washes, but will shrink a lot on the 3rd wash to fit perfectly! That way you can use them LONGER instead of giving them to someone else. I use HOT water by the way, I DO NOT babysit my clothes anymore and it definitely has its benefits. :)
