Review on Enhanced Braking System for Towed Cars: Roadmaster 9100 Brakemaster by Roy Reeves

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Only brakes when braking hard. Very difficult to install

The instructions only show vans with early brakes that don't use anti-lock braking. The guide doesn't just have the last 18 years, so you'll have to spend a lot of time googling to figure out how to hook up the bus air brake system. This is NOT the worst problem. We have just returned from a 2400 mile trip and this system is the worst and least efficient I have ever used! It applies the brakes of the towed vehicle only under very hard braking. So 99 percent of the time, slowing down doesn't really help. I've towed camper trailers, enclosed trailers, electric braked car transporters for over 50 years and this kit is the least useful. I called the manufacturer twice and a technician from Camping World in Amarillo took a look. The technician said that these devices are ineffective and he does not recommend this type of device. I've adjusted the length of the mounting arm a few times and every time someone pedals the camper I just look to see that it's not applying enough pressure to even apply the Toads brakes that much, be it because you don't push in hard MH. . I am waiting for a factory technician to call me back within 5 days.

Pros
  • One year test
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
