To speed up the process of making blanks for the bowl, I started using taps with a Forstner bit. I use the Irwin Marples brand, however they don't leave clean edges and tarnish quickly on the hardwoods I use. Based on Revain reviews of Freud Precision Shear Serrated Edge Drill Bits Forstner, I decided to give them a try. I bought both the 2-1/8" and the 1". It's definitely designed a lot more for the carpenter. Very clean edges and a smooth bottom cut. Makes nice curly chips and shows no signs of tarnishing. I would highly recommend these drill bits to any woodworker.
