Review on ๐Ÿ”’ Enhanced Trimax TMC10 Coupler/Door Latch Lock (suits couplers with 3/4-inch span) by Fritz Wiest

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Questionable durability. Attention buyers.

Upon receipt, the locking mechanism was already dirty and barely working. After dousing the keyhole with WD-40 and holding it for half an hour, black debris poured out of the lock. The locking mechanism now works perfectly, BUT. If the lock arrives rusted after being stored in a dry warehouse, how will it perform outdoors for a long time? Although the lock comes with a protective rubber cap, it gets damaged in the sun, falls off and then what? Also this protective cap did not work very well in the packaging. Hm. If the lock's protective cover is destroyed, the lock is constantly exposed to the elements. Which brings us back to where we started - a rusty locking mechanism that has just been taken out of its packaging. We believe there is a design/manufacturing error here that is invisible but will definitely be felt at some point in the future. Who wants to arrive at a destination and find that one of the trailer hitch locks is no longer working? This applies in particular to closures at all connection points. We do our best to avoid our trailer being unable to be unhooked and apply as many anti-theft measures as possible. This is one of our HUGE COMPLAINTS in this industry. All those crappy locks from almost every manufacturer that fail at the worst possible moment, so that the trailer can no longer be unhooked. We do not carry heavy bolt cutters or metal grinders as part of our equipment. God. We are waiting for a set of German all-weather locks with the same Abus key. If the Abus shackle fits into the hitch pin hole, it will return. Oh yes we also have a Brahma lock to help with all those little lock problems. This is totally amazing! It looks like the Brahma lock could finally be a one-point (read single lock) solution as a very effective anti-theft device. Not available from Revain but worth every penny compared to the junk they sell for this purpose at Revain.
