the belt squeaks and smokes with every start and does not turn to 14 volts as it should - takes a good 15 seconds

Product received misaligned. Since I'm new to boat mechanics, I installed it anyway. For the last 4 or 5 trips in the boat with this generator the belt squeaks and smokes every time it starts and doesn't spin up to 14 volts right away - a good 15 seconds but it didn't spin yesterday. Crank it up to 14 volts for 15 minutes so I had to idle it back to the dock. DB Electrical refuses to resolve this issue as it was purchased through Amazon and Amazon has a 14 day return policy which has already expired. Very disappointed with the result and will definitely reconsider buying car and boat parts from Amazon.
