Alternator arrived quickly and was easy to install. Be careful not to overtighten the rear load bolts. Hope this lasts for a while. The price is almost half the price of local marina parts lists.

I had to remove the engine lift bracket and bolts to install the alternator. The terminals on the back touched the studs and could easily short out. The original OMC Prestolite alternator was not as large and had more clearance for terminal spacing between the engine block and the alternator.

The price corresponds, the quality looks good, the bearing does not play and does not make noise. There were no wiring instructions and trying to match the terminals on my old OMC Cobra alternator was a bit confusing. On my generator the OMC EXC (Excite) was connected to the S terminal which was connected to the 12VDC + ignition (red wire of the smaller gauge). I installed a new alternator but it wasn't charging. I tested it at my local auto parts store where it didn't work. I decided to exchange the item and it should have arrived today. I just got an email notification that it won't be delivered for another 2 days. A number of weekend plans had already been ruined. Hopefully this one works or arrives in time enough to order one that works before it drowns in future weekend fun.

Works great on a Mercruiser marinated Panther 2000 GM block. I've come to the conclusion that if you have a GM block from Volvo, Mercruiser etc and your alternator looks like this then most likely it will fit. Such a great price, hope it lasts, honestly when it comes out in a few years probably just buy another one. I momentarily connected 6 gauge wire directly to the starter solenoid and plugged in the smaller original power wire. 14 volts no problem

Product received misaligned. Since I'm new to boat mechanics, I installed it anyway. For the last 4 or 5 trips in the boat with this generator the belt squeaks and smokes every time it starts and doesn't spin up to 14 volts right away - a good 15 seconds but it didn't spin yesterday. Crank it up to 14 volts for 15 minutes so I had to idle it back to the dock. I installed this alternator on my 1999 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL engine. The results were excellent, at 600 rpm idle the voltage is good, like 14.3 volts as far as I remember and the alternator doesn't heat up like the broken one that was replaced. Every wire connection in the new generator was exactly the same as in the outdated unit it replaced.
