I installed this alternator on my 1999 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL engine. The results were excellent, at 600 rpm idle the voltage is good, like 14.3 volts as far as I remember and the alternator doesn't heat up like the broken one that was replaced. Every wire connection in the new generator was exactly the same as in the outdated unit it replaced. Although the original block was charcoal painted, I chose not to paint the new one as it would reduce its ability to dissipate heat.
