Review on Pioneer BDR-XD07B: Portable 6X Slim External BDXL Burner & DVD Player for Windows & Mac with 3.0 USB - Black, Includes Carry Case by Josh Dyer

Very nice little player, comes with a great hard case

So much to love about this metal body portable player that will last. This is a replacement for a player with a damaged plastic case. Plays and records all formats, except maybe not SACD but DVD-Audio. (Don't tell me about those obscure multi-channel formats—they're great, but haven't really caught on.) Plugs into a USB 3 port for full-bandwidth 4k Blu-ray and doesn't require an additional power supply. Provides USB port. There is some noise from the player, but not enough to disrupt the movie. The cable isn't long, but if desired, you could find a longer cable; The cable works for me with the player sitting on my laptop's palm rest. The player has a blue backlight that flashes when a hard drive is being accessed, which is also very nice. The hard case is also very well designed, perfect for the player and also has multiple pockets for blank media or a small amount of your movies (just the discs, not their plastic sleeves). I keep them in paper envelopes in a case. Also, there is a link to download the included version of the Cyberlink player software. You'll need it, or you can get Cyberlink's best extras if you want. (I made the paid version to get Ultra 4k playback and the excellent Cyberlink CD burning software.)

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Not everything fits
