Review on πŸ”₯ High-Quality Pleasant Hearth 33-Inch Black Solid Steel Fireplace Grates with Ember Retainer by Vanessa Garcia

The second time - no magic

This is the second time I've bought this 18" grille. The first lasted about 3 years before becoming too damaged to be useful. It has used it on some indoor log fires and some outdoor fires. This latest has survived 2 internal chimney fires before warping as shown in the picture. With horizontal support front and rear fully sagging to the ground (as others have mentioned they really need a center support). Note that it's upside down in the image as it's now useless as intended. Looks like they could use a cheaper type of steel. I go to the fireplace shop to buy a real fireplace. I was able to return the previous shape with a sledgehammer, but haven't tried it yet. I don't know if bending the metal would weaken it any more. That's a shame - the design seems great (minus the lack of central support).

Pros
  • 7 cycles; Solid steel construction with 1/2" solid bars
Cons
  • Neutral
