I use eco rug for my 16 year old gecko. I've never had a problem with rugs and order a new one every 6 months, but it's easy to clean and I'm sure you can have the same rug for a few years. Its appearance is simple, but you can do a lot with it. I only use it for my leopard gecko because I have other animals in natural bioactive enclosures but that's just my preference but it's by far the easiest substrate I have. I've used it on my tropical boa in the past and haven't had any problems either. I order a 40 gallon rug but I cut it to the perfect size which is a no brainer. I will not change the substrate for my gecko.
