I bought this so I wouldn't have to rent another cable box from AT&T. Since my current set top box used HDMI and the component outputs were blank, I decided to use an AT&T set top box wireless remote and this Tripp Lite B136-101 extender. I have about 3 feet of Category 6 cable running from the transmitter (i.e. box) side of the unit to the wall. The wall plate then has a cable that goes to another wall plate next to the TV. On the other side is another 3 foot cable that connects the receiver (i.e. the TV side) to the wall plate. Total length is approximately 30 feet and all cables are UTP Category 6 (550MHz nominal, 24 AWG stranded). The video broadcast is a 720p signal. After adjusting the brightness slightly (which has already been removed on the TV) slightly above the preset, I have a great picture and stereo sound. Depending on the strength of your signal source (e.g. cable TV) and the distance to your cable, I can see where the brightness drops off significantly. However, this was not the case for me, so the device was a perfect fit at a good price. Recommended for this type of setup.
