At first there were problems. but then

Initially there were problems installing Video over Ethernet extenders. I was very disappointed with the product because I couldn't get it to work. I even started the return process to get a refund. I just tried again and found that one of the patch cords I used to connect the keystone jacks in the wall had a crack. Replaced, everything works now, I'm very satisfied. The only remaining problem is a slight ghosting of the image. I think it might have something to do with how I set it up (going…

Disappointment: Accessories and accessories

I wanted to move my AV stand from my living room to my office to free up shelf space and improve the look. I chose them based on the price and the generally positive reviews others have given them. I tested them with the video signal from my AV receiver to the projector on a 50 foot run of good quality solid Cat5e cable. The result was very disappointing. Contrast and brightness dropped off badly, and I had very bad ghosting on the edges of the subject. I tried a 1m Cat5e run to make sure it…

baluns. Great at 25ft, crap at 100ft - who knows what's in between.

I have a lot of these baluns - first did a 25ft test and then bought a lot more to do an AV project at a bar. I use these baluns with CAT6 cable. 25 foot runs work great. If you only have 25ft runs this will be great. The fact that they include sound is a nice perk. However, 100' works with a FAIL crash. Halos at best, random dropouts at worst. I've had enough of these baluns to know I'm not just a bad opponent. I ended up switching to a different set of baluns and everything works great…

Quality and practical solution

Bought, tested and put away a few months ago. Just got it working yesterday. I added a small media center to my wife's remodeled reading room with the hardware on the bottom cabinet and the HDTV on the top shelf. Wiring runs behind the wall through nice looking audio/video boxes. After adding the Blu-ray player, I found that I was missing two slots because I planned to use HDMI for all devices. But the TV I found only has one HDMI, so I had to use a cable box component. This product was…

Works for small screens but not perfect

I bought this unit to send a TV signal from our main entertainment center to a second TV in our kitchen. I used cheap Cat5e cable for the initial install and had disappointing results. The image was haloed and had flat colors. After replacing the cable with a better cag5e cable, the picture is significantly better, but still not perfect. The ghosting is gone but the colors are flat. When I connected the TV directly to the source via component video cables I saw a significantly better picture…

Holy shit! It's good!

Oh my god, I was a bit skeptical at first. I bought this because I have cable and TV in the master bedroom and a small HDTV in the master bathroom. The old cable box had an S-Video output, which I used to connect to the bathroom TV. I recently got Comca$t's new X1 cable boxes and they don't have S-Video on the back, but they do have an HDMI+ component output. The total distance from running the CAT5e cable from the X1 junction box under the house through the subway to the main bathroom was…

Works great with AT&T U-verse to 30ft Cat 6 cable

I bought this so I wouldn't have to rent another cable box from AT&T. Since my current set top box used HDMI and the component outputs were blank, I decided to use an AT&T set top box wireless remote and this Tripp Lite B136-101 extender. I have about 3 feet of Category 6 cable running from the transmitter (i.e. box) side of the unit to the wall. The wall plate then has a cable that goes to another wall plate next to the TV. On the other side is another 3 foot cable that connects the receiver…

Not perfect but comfortable, especially for the price

I recently bought a 51 inch 720p flat screen TV for my living room. We watched TV in our home theater (96 inch, 1080p). front projection system with 5.1 surround sound and a large subwoofer), but I really wanted to be able to enjoy the TV with the lights on and save myself the theater for real movies. expensive options I ordered this item with a 100ft universal CAT6 cable. The first thing I did was hook it up to a Vizio BluRay player next to the TV using a 100ft cable and Trip Lite connectors…

Part of a great kitchen TV system

Part of a great kitchen TV system I've lost access to most "standard" TV channels , which I use for cable TV. I didn't have room for another FIOS converter in the kitchen and didn't want to pay a regular fee. So I found a solution that works for me - combined with my only FIOS converter. A Vizio digital TV mounted to the underside of my kitchen cabinets (which works great under the cabinet too) with a Vantage Point wall mount. The TV in the kitchen is now connected to the same channel selected…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
