Review on Baldwin BT251 Oil Filter by Michael Bazen

This is an upgraded version of the hugely popular Ford FL-1A filter used in over 5000 Ford models and many more. A longer filter length increases oil capacity and slightly improves cooling. (A lot of people don't realize that the filter removes a lot of heat from the oil.) A larger size means more filter media, which means longer life and potentially faster start-up pressure. And it's made by Baldwin, the filter brand you're most likely to see under the hood of a big rig or in construction equipment. . It's more expensive, but only a few dollars, and I don't mind investing in quality parts. However, note that this filter is much longer than the standard FL-1A (at least 2-3 inches) and you may not be able to use it if you don't have free space in the engine bay. I use it in a '94 Ford Explorer and the extra length really makes it easier to replace.
