My truck tool box is at least 30 years old so it is well made, the lid is very heavy. Rather terribly heavy and difficult to hold, the lid slammed so hard I winced. I don't want to imagine what would happen if my fingers got in the way. Long story short I bought these shocks and the toolkit works great. The lid pops open as soon as I press the release button, but not so fast that I get slapped in the face. The lid opens fully as desired and isn't too difficult to close. I am very happy with these shock absorbers and should have bought them many years ago. I highly recommend!
