Review on Pioneer BDR-XD07B: Portable 6X Slim External BDXL Burner & DVD Player for Windows & Mac with 3.0 USB - Black, Includes Carry Case by Mike Messerly

Plays DVD and CD normally (haven't tried Blu-ray yet). It is compact and easy to carry, fits perfectly in my laptop bag. The cable that came with it was too long for the small table so I replaced it with a 6 inch cable that I bought here. great quality, was huge, too big to fit in my laptop bag (and it's a big bag!) Although I can't use the bag with my laptop bag, I found it handy for storing extra cords in the drawer the case was free (other sellers have sold the same optical drive without a case for the same price), and I'm used to the cables that come with peripherals (they're always either too long or too short, or just plain poor quality), so to replace I did not take it off (especially since I used the case elsewhere)
