Ordered four of these holders. Two of them work great right out of the box, release smoothly when loading and the cross pin returns with good spring tension. two others? Yes. The cross pin is gritty and sticky. When the clip is released, the cross pin gets stuck in the "released" state, which is totally unacceptable. I have to manually reinsert the cross pin with considerable effort. Eventually, the cross pin will not fully engage, greatly reducing the strength of the strut. I've been using the 1.5"-6" versions of these restraints for years. None of them were even remotely as rough out of the box. Given the variability I've seen in the samples I've ordered, there's poor quality control (if any). , Questionable tolerances and/or workmanship, so I wouldn't feel safe using them in my originally intended role.
