These struts aren't as accurate as high-end gears, but for the price, my non-critical undercarriage wouldn't notice a difference. I lost one of my expensive staples overboard so I ordered two of these. both work, great tolerance, but must fulfill their duties. My logic is that I would rather lose her than destroy her. Simply put, don't buy these staples if you plan to use them as part of a system or job that your life depends on. I'm a commercial diver and we use these clips every day and they help protect our heads from the masks so we don't die. I wore this clip for two weeks and today the pin came completely out of the shackle as I was at the bottom of the seabed. Two stars because I didn't actually die. However, if I do, I will come back and change it to a star.

Smooth finish on all parts allows for easy clip release under load, yet securely holds load until ready to release. I use these to secure a window vent cover for an exit window so a person can simply pull the pins and remove the cover. They're tied to the bottom of a 5ft deep well with a little dome over it so no one looking down can figure out how to open them - all they see is a steel cable tied to the bottom. Ordered four of these holders. Two of them work great right out of the box, release smoothly when loading and the cross pin returns with good spring tension. two others? Yes. The cross pin is gritty and sticky. When the clip is released, the cross pin gets stuck in the "released" state, which is totally unacceptable. I have to manually reinsert the cross pin with considerable effort. Eventually, the cross pin will not fully engage, greatly reducing the strength of the strut. I've been using the
