Four years successfully and on all types of surfaces I drove a Viking 6 and in the 21/22 season I decided to try the 7 series of non-studded tires. In short, the impressions are excellent, no worse than the 6 series. There are no problems in the city at all - both in snow and in rain, and all the more important on dry frosty asphalt. Predictable braking and maneuvering. Nuance machine on full drive. Out of town on the track you need to be more careful than on the spikes, but nevertheless, there were no problems either. It is clear that friction tires will give way to spikes on icy surfaces, but in St. Petersburg it is difficult to find clean ice on asphalt even after freezing rain (I have not yet succeeded even once even at night) - there are always sections of clean asphalt and due to constantly alternating sections there is a hook always, of course, we are talking about reasonable speed in difficult conditions. In positive temperatures in the rain, the friction clutch significantly exceeds the spikes by an order of magnitude. Thanks to car sharing, I can compare. In general, I can confirm the well-known thesis - for a large city there are no problems on non-studded tires, but for suburban highway runs I would prefer spikes, although you can ride a friction clutch. But the most important thing in winter tires is the right choice of speed corresponding to the conditions and keeping the distance.
