Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ Smallest Arduino Microcontroller Seeeduino XIAO - SAMD21 Based, Enriched Interfaces, Fully Compatible with Arduino IDE, Ideal for Projects Requiring Arduino Micro, 1pc by Ryan Hadden

Excellent purchase! SAMD21 @ 48MHz + USB-C + Arduino IDE support + sketch size = AMAZING!

Cannot comment on many of the product features as I have yet to do anything other than the flashing sketch to make sure they work with the Arduino and are functional, all 3 did! As I mentioned in the title, this product has many advantages: Price: $21.99 for 3 of these. Approximately (rounded up from $7.3) $8 for a controller! That's $1 to $2 less than Adafruit's Trinket M0, which has the same hardware but includes an RGB LED. Any day I would choose value for money over stupid RGB lighting! Size: They are tiny! Perfect for permanent mounting on a breadboard/breadboard or even a PCB (they have jagged edges so with the right technique and good paste/hardware you can actually SMT solder them). Specifications: Very good for something so small. SAMD21 (Cortex M0) @ 48MHz with 256KB Flash! ** I'd say I'd like to see an external flash chip (and pay an extra buck or two), maybe 1MB or 2MB? Adafruit does this in their large boards and premium products to accommodate CircuitPython, they don't have an external/additional flash on the Trinket M0 (which is also comparable) so maybe it's just size. BUT I think they could easily place a 1-2MB SOIC flash chip on the bottom of the PCB. Overall this is a great buy for anyone on a budget or limited funds looking for bang for their buck!

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Reliability
