In through the rear wheel, out and around the rack, in through the frame, twist to close and those two things don't go anywhere for a while. In fact, the pillar can be the weakest link. Pay attention to the chain NINE mm. This is pretty serious. To be honest I think this is too serious for most users and I would recommend the 7mm version (and a lot cheaper). I wear it around my waist when riding because it's the easiest. It's surprisingly uncomfortable at first, but what's even more amazing is how quickly you forget about it completely. That's over 5 pounds, and be sure to keep the lock out of the way or the dents could be a nasty surprise. My waist is 30/31" and I can sew a link or two from this. EDIT: Tip, don't sew! Just twist the chain until it fits around your waist. The extra links help secure more things! If your Waist isn't for you, a good bag will suffice. Two bikes have been stolen, both with cable lock and U-lock, and even if they get handlebars or front wheel, there won't be a third.
